A veranda built to the exact size of your patio, with a strong gutter that runs up to 8 metres without a join.

Off-the-shelf verandas come in set sizes. For example, if your patio is 4.3 metres wide, you either have extra space on the sides of your veranda with a 4 metre roof, or put up with one that hangs over the path. The MB Solid solves that. It is made to measure, so the frame, gutter and roof are made to suit your space.

It is designed and made by MB Aluminium, a Dutch family business based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. MB has made aluminium verandas since 2008, and every part is cut and prepared in its own production before it leaves the factory. That means less cutting on site, quicker fitting and a neater finish.

Why Choose a Made to Measure Polycarbonate Veranda?

Every MB Solid is made to your measurements. Widths run from about 3 metres up to 12 metres, and depths from 2 metres to 5 metres. You choose the roof, the colour and the number of posts that suit the span.

That means no gaps, no awkward overhangs and no cutting down a kit on your patio. The veranda lines up with your back doors, windows and paving, so it looks like it was always meant to be there.

How Does the Gutter Stay Straight Over Long Spans?

The MB Solid uses a high-strength gutter with extra-thick walls and a double-chamber profile. It comes in one piece up to 8 metres long, so there are no joins along the front.

A stiff gutter does not sag in the middle, even under a glass roof or a wet winter. Fewer joins also mean fewer places for water to get through, and MB adds a built-in water barrier for extra leak protection.

Which Roof Is Right for Your Garden?

You can choose 16 mm polycarbonate in clear or opal, glass in clear, opal or tinted, or an insulated 24 mm sandwich panel. There is also IQ Relax polycarbonate in 16 mm or 25 mm, which gives higher sun and UV protection.

Clear roofs keep the room behind bright. Opal spreads the light softly. Tinted glass cuts glare on sunny patios. A sandwich panel gives full shade and better control of heat below.

How Big Can an MB Solid Go?

One MB Solid can cover up to 5 metres deep. And for the width, it can go to wherever you want it as you can just add extra posts. The maximum width on two posts is 6m. Wider sizes use three or four posts instead of two, and deeper glass roofs get a reinforcement beam built in.

The gap between any two posts can be up to 6 metres. If you need a wider clear opening with no post in the way, look at the Deponti Pigato Plus, which spans up to 7 metres on two posts.

So it works for a small terrace, a wide family patio or a covered seating area at a club or cafe. The photo shows a long MB Solid over a sports club terrace.

Will the Finish Last in British Weather?

The MB Solid is made from aluminium with a premium powder coating, standing on 13.6 x 13.6 cm posts. MB's coating is chosen for strong colour hold in sun, rain and changing temperatures.

Aluminium does not rot or need painting. A wash with warm soapy water now and then is usually all it needs. Pick from white, grey metallic, anthracite or black.

Can You Turn It Into a Garden Room Later?

Yes. MB also makes sliding glass walls, sliding doors, side walls, screens and sun shading that fit the MB Solid. You can add warm white LED spotlights in the roof beams too.

Start with an open veranda this year and close it in later for a room you can use in spring and autumn. Ask us which add-ons suit your size.

What Are the MB Solid Profile Sizes?

These drawings from MB Aluminium show every profile in the MB Solid frame. The numbers on the frame match the numbered profiles, and all sizes are in millimetres.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a veranda?

It depends on the size, height and where it sits on your property. Many verandas fall under permitted development, but the rules vary. Check with your local council before you order.

Can I fit the MB Solid myself?

Yes, if you are handy with tools. The parts arrive cut and prepared, ready to assemble. You will need wall fixings to suit your wall, and an electrician to connect any LED lights. We also offer installation across the UK.

What do the posts stand on?

Each post can be set into a concrete footing in the ground, or bolted onto an existing patio or concrete base with a U bracket.

Does the MB Solid have to fix to my house?

The standard MB Solid fixes to your house wall. If you want it away from the house, it can be made freestanding with extra posts and a static beam.

Where does the rainwater go?

Rain runs into the front gutter and down a pipe hidden inside one of the posts. A leaf catcher at the outlet helps stop blockages.

How long does delivery take, and what is the guarantee?

Delivery takes 4 to 6 weeks, because each MB Solid is made to your measurements. It comes with a 10 year guarantee.
