A strong, wall-mounted veranda with chunky 16 cm posts, made to the exact size of your patio.
Many lean-to verandas use thin posts that look lost against a big house. The MB Bold goes the other way. It has solid 16 x 16 cm posts and a tall, straight gutter, so it looks in proportion on larger homes and wider patios. Like every MB veranda, it is made to measure.
It is designed and made by MB Aluminium, a Dutch family business based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. MB has made aluminium verandas since 2008, and every part is cut and prepared in its own production before it leaves the factory. That means less cutting on site, quicker fitting and a neater finish.
What Makes the MB Bold a Good Lean-To Veranda?
A lean-to veranda fixes to your house wall at the back and stands on posts at the front. The MB Bold uses a wall profile on the house side and a strong gutter at the front, so rain runs away from your home.
Because it is made to measure, the MB Bold lines up with your doors, windows and paving. Widths run from about 3 to anything of your choosing and depths from 2 to 5 metres.

Why Do 16 cm Posts Matter?
The MB Bold stands on 16 x 16 cm aluminium posts, and MB builds the whole frame from heavy-duty aluminium parts for extra stiffness.
Bigger posts look right next to a large house and give the veranda a solid, settled feel when you sit under it. They also leave room for the downpipe to run hidden inside the post.
Straight or Rounded Gutter?
The MB Bold comes with a straight, high-profile gutter for a crisp, modern line. If you prefer a softer look, you can choose a rounded gutter trim instead.
It is a small detail with a big effect. Straight suits modern homes and flat-fronted extensions. Rounded suits older houses. The gutter comes in one piece up to 8 metres long.

Which Roof Suits Your Space?
Choose 16 mm polycarbonate (clear or opal), IQ Relax polycarbonate for higher sun and UV protection, an insulated 24 mm sandwich panel, or glass in clear, opal or tinted.
A clear roof keeps your kitchen or lounge bright behind the veranda. Opal and tinted options take the edge off strong sun, and the sandwich panel gives full shade.
Which Colour Works With Your House?
The MB Bold comes in white (RAL 9016), slate grey (DB703), anthracite (RAL 7016) or black (RAL 9005). A premium powder coating protects the colour from sun, rain and frost.
White suits rendered and painted homes. Anthracite and black match modern aluminium windows and doors. Slate grey sits well against brick.

Can You Add Walls, Screens or Lights Later?
Yes. MB makes sliding glass walls, sliding doors, side walls, screens and sun shading to fit the MB Bold, plus warm white LED spotlights for the roof beams.
You can keep it open for summer or close it in to make a garden room you can use for more of the year. Ask us what fits your size and budget.
What Are the MB Bold Profile Sizes?
These drawings from MB Aluminium show every profile in the MB Bold frame. The numbers on the frame match the numbered profiles, and all sizes are in millimetres.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I need planning permission?
Not always. Many lean-to verandas fall under permitted development, but it depends on size, height and position. Your local council can confirm before you order.
Is the MB Bold hard to fit?
It goes up in a set order: wall profile, gutter, posts, then roof. Parts arrive cut to size and prepared. The only thing it doesn't come with is the wall fixings. Of course, if you choose to go with the Gleaming Gardens installation, you don't need to worry about anything to do with the installation and can just sit back and relax while we take care of it all for you.
What kind of wall can it fix to?
We can fit this to any type of wall. However, in order to ensure stability, we may need to include extra posts and profiles to ensure it fits perfectly. This is especially true if you have any type of drainpipe or flue coming off the house.
Can I have it freestanding instead?
Yes. With extra posts and a static beam, the MB Bold can stand on its own away from the house.
Do I need a base for the posts?
The posts go into concrete footings in the ground or bolt onto a solid patio or concrete slab with U brackets. Footing concrete and floor plugs are not included.
How long will I wait, and how long is the guarantee?
Allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery while your MB Bold is made to size. The guarantee runs for 10 years.
