Cook two ways at once on your Bakka: fast and hot on the plancha, slow and gentle on the Turret.
A plancha is brilliant for searing, but not everything wants that much heat. Fish can stick. Ribs can char before they cook through. The HEAT Turret Grill sits on top of the Bakka plancha and gives you a raised grill where the heat is softer, so you can cook delicate food while the plancha does the hot work below.
The Turret is a 30cm round grill on a short steel frame. It sits on the Bakka plancha and lifts food above the hot plate.
That gives you two cooking zones on one fire. Sear steaks and burgers on the plancha while something slower cooks on top.
The upper level is made for slow cooking at lower heat. HEAT suggests fish fillets, spare ribs and vegetables.
It is also handy for keeping cooked food warm while the next batch finishes on the plancha. Nothing dries out waiting on a plate.
It comes as two rings, three supports and a grill, plus six screws and nuts. Bolt the rings to the supports, then lay the grill on top.
Assembly takes a few minutes and you only do it once. After that it lifts on and off the Bakka in one piece.
At about 3.5kg, the Turret is easy to lift off once it has cooled. Brush the grill clean while it is still slightly warm, as fat comes off more easily.
Store it somewhere dry between cooks. A dry shed or garage keeps the steel in good condition for longer.
