How does the summerhouse feel sturdy day to day?

The walls use 12mm shiplap tongue & groove cladding on a 28mm x 44mm timber frame. Tongue and groove boards interlock neatly, which helps the panels sit tight.

That means fewer gaps, a smarter finish, and a building that feels more solid when you’re using it.

What makes the doors and windows practical?

You get Georgian half-glazed double doors with matching Georgian fixed windows. The glazing is 3mm toughened glass.

Toughened glass is designed to be stronger than standard glass, and the lock and key lets you close up when you’re done for the day.

How are the roof and floor built?

The roof and floor use 12mm tongue & groove boards, which gives better support underfoot than thin sheet board. The roof is supplied with grey mineral felt.

Like any felt roof, it needs the usual checks over time. If you spot wear or damage, deal with it quickly to stop water getting in.

What do you need to do after installation?

The building comes with a temporary water-based base coat. That’s a starter layer, not your long-term protection. After assembly, treat the summerhouse inside and out with a good quality wood preserver and a water-resistant finish.

Treat it again every year. Pay extra attention to rough timber edges, the bottom areas (where splash-back happens), and the top and bottom edges of the doors.

How do you keep it in good shape for years?

A garden building lasts best when it stays dry, level, and clear of contact. Make sure it sits on a firm, level base and keep plants, fences, and stored items off the walls.

It also helps to seal all glazing units inside and out with a suitable watertight sealant (such as silicone), check the felt regularly, and lubricate hinges and metalwork to keep everything working smoothly.

The manufacturer states the timber is covered by a 10-year guarantee against timber rot, timber decay, and insect infestation, as long as you follow the care rules.
