Many people end up choosing between a summerhouse or a shed. The Multi Shiplap does both. You get a bright space to sit and enjoy the garden, plus a separate side store to keep tools, furniture, or bikes out of sight.
How does the side store work?
The building includes a 2ft side store that is fully partitioned from the main summerhouse. It has its own full-boarded, lockable door.
This keeps muddy tools and garden clutter separate from the space where you relax. Everything has its place.
What makes the summerhouse side feel bright?
The main entrance uses an alpine half-glazed single door, paired with Georgian fixed windows.
All glazing is 3mm toughened glass, letting in plenty of light while giving extra peace of mind.
How solid is the build?
The walls are built from 12mm shiplap tongue & groove cladding, fixed to a 28mm x 44mm timber frame.
Tongue and groove boards slot together neatly, helping the panels stay tight and giving the building a clean, traditional finish.
What about the roof and floor?
Both the roof and floor use 12mm tongue & groove boards, giving better support than thin sheet materials.
The roof is covered with grey mineral felt, which should be checked now and then and replaced if worn.
What treatment is needed after assembly?
The building is supplied with a temporary water-based base coat. It must be treated shortly after assembly, inside and out, with a good quality wood preserver and a water-resistant finish.
Reapply treatment every year. All glazing should be sealed inside and out with a suitable watertight sealant.
